Landscape Design - Committed to quality
At Tri Designs, we firmly believe that all beautiful landscapes come from wonderful designs. Tom Dahlmeir and Dave Sonka of Tri Designs are award-winning veterans of the landscape design profession. It is our passion!
We believe that Landscape Design is a holistic artform; it synergizes the needs and limitations of the site, the architectural features of the home, the context of the environment, and the expressed desires of each unique client. Then, in applying the principles of design, we work through the process to create the best assignment of space, circulation flow, materials selection, and site programming as possible, and create your very own dynamic outdoor living environment.
The best design and greatest client satisfaction comes through collaboration with our clients. We want your needs, wants, ideas and dreams to be realized during the process. We love clients with a little imagination and ambition! From there, our goal at Tri Designs is to amaze you with how the creative process can apply to your space. We want you to see your ideas applied in the best context possible, and installed in the best manner possible.
Whether you are a client with great vision, or a client who needs more vision but has a list of goals and objectives, we can illustrate our ideas in the design with a variety of techniques and tools. We can provide you with hand drawings, photo-imaging techniques, computerized models, or rendered CAD design plans. It is all about you, and what is best for you to see in order to get what you want from the project. We want to ensure that the vision is clear before the project begins.
The Design Process
Design Consultation – the first step.
Tri Designs will first arrange a time to meet at your home or property for an initial consultation. We will plan to spend approximately 60 to 90 minutes discussing your landscaping project and touring your property.
Tell us your dreams! In this discussion, we love to hear about all of the issues you have with your landscape. So please, don’t hold back! Prepare to describe all of the things you like, and dislike, about your current landscape. Then, tell us about the needs, wants, and desires you have for your property. Tell us how you, your family, your pets, and your friends want to be able to enjoy the outdoors.
Show us what inspires you! Show us photographs of great landscaping ideas you have found, whether if you saw them in magazines, at your friend’s house, or places you have been on vacation.
Let’s talk budget! As professional designers, Tom and Dave love to draw beautiful and ambitious plans. If you can please tell us what your level of investment will be, we can calibrate our discussions and designs toward your budget and be good stewards of your investment.
Let’s show you what we can do! Tri Designs will show you how we can help; we will go through some of the projects we done in the past, the materials we have to work with, and the tools we use in taking you through the design process. We want to collaborate with you and include you in the design, we want to get to work for you!
Our consultation fees are refundable if you decide to proceed with the design. The fee is $80.00 in the Twin Cities Metro, or $120.00 within an hour outside of the Twin Cities. For places farther beyond, we can negotiate a price with you over the phone. If there is something we can provide an estimate for on the spot, we will certainly try. But consultation fees are refunded into the cost of the design. So if you want to proceed from there, we will then appraise the design, contract it, and get the process flowing.
The Design – getting the process flowing.
Let’s collaborate! We want you to see your thoughts and ideas articulated into the best design possible. We pride ourselves in our ability to embellish your thoughts and ideas into a comprehensive plan that takes things to a whole new level. We want to amaze you with how the creative process in working with the principles of design can apply to your space.
Let’s stay connected! Tri Designs will continue to stay connected with you throughout the design process. With the ability to email over sketches, drawings, images, and in-progress designs, we want you to keep communication and feedback flowing. When the time comes to present our design solution, we want the plan to be just what you want.
We’ve got the The Master Plan for you! When the plans are complete, we will go over the details with you at your home and show you exactly how they apply to your setting. We will show you the details fo the design with the final materials selection, plant selection, and reiterate all of the key ingredients of your design and how they reflect your needs, wants, and desires as expressed in the very first meeting.
It’s all about the details! In going through all of the details in the design, we will show you the costs associated with the project and how it can be completed in phases, if possible. With a thorough knowledge of the landscape and construction industry, we can talk about the logistics of the project and what is entailed in the construction process. Tri Designs will work on your behalf, among our team of experienced installers and vendors, to get you the best value possible for your new, beautiful landscape. We will do the shopping for you! We want to see your dream become a reality for you!
But wait, there is more!
Not only do we offer landscape design services at Tri Designs, we also have an extremely talented and dynamic team of home remodelers, interior designers, carpenters, painters, electricians, and other construction trades around us who can assist with the design of your remodeling project, pool house, four season room, or any other project. We can assemble and integrate our plans with this team and save you the trouble of finding all of these people independently.
The cost for Design Services will need to be appraised on site, as each and every site, and each and every project, has different features and characteristics. Typically, plan on a cost between $500 to $1,500 to design a portion of the yard, or $1,000 to $3,000 to design a full yard project, in order to create the plan of your dreams. If some vital information can be provided from our clients, such as an As-Built Survey, a Site Grading Plan, and/or a set of house plans, the cost of the plan will be reduced accordingly. In cases where a pool, a sophisticated water feature, a remodeling project, or more extensive CAD modeling is needed to illustrate the designs, the costs will be greater. We will discuss all of your options in advance. *These costs can be refunded to you in the construction process, when the value of the plan becomes 10% of the value of the project. Please let us tell you in person about how this refund works!
