Security Tips

We have chosen to specialize in overall security, not just one small aspect of it. Whether it is your home or business, every part of your security system needs to work together as a team to bring you peace of mind. The tips listed below apply to businesses as well as homes.

Locks and Doors
All locks should work smoothly. Deadbolts should be at least grade two locks, using three inch strike screws in wooden frames. You may even consider reinforcing hinges with three inch screws. Back or side doors at businesses must always be controlled since robberies and internal loss occurs through these most often. Always rekey when you move in or when you have employee turnover.

Windows
Install an alarm system to make up for security weaknesses in windows and glass. An alarm will also tell you if a protected window is left open. Cut back any landscaping that can hide intruders at windows. Use exterior lighting to illuminate vulnerable areas.  Report burned out street lights to the proper authority.

Autos
Car manufacturers have invested a lot to virtually eliminate auto-theft.  Don’t leave your car running unattended. Also, store your keys away from entrance doors so they can’t be easily grabbed.

Safes
Use safes for their intended purpose. Most “big box store” safes are rated for fire only. Safes should always be bolted to the floor.

Did you know..?
that most residential burglaries occur during the day and commercial burglars strike at night? Also, a surprising percentage of burglaries occur through unlocked doors.  Take action now because there is little reason to be vulnerable to today’s criminal.
